30th of June...

a very significant day...

the exact day for the formation of student division (if i remember correctly)
back in 1957...

30th of june...

is a very significant day too...
for the Spaniards...

becos...

SPAIN WON THE EURO CUP AFTER 12 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
congrats to the Spaniards :)
guess wat...
i actually stayed up to watch the match between Germany & Spain...
both teams were good...
i think Germans' defense were rock solid...
was able to break the tempo of the waves after waves of attacks by spain, which i think...
a million thanks to the midfield of spain...
it is them tt orchestra most of the attack moments...
if david villa is around... the final score will not be just 1-0
fernando torres, the lone striker... was given many opportunities...
but becos there's only one striker (or rather target man) the german defense just have to mark him... (like i say, i think its the Spaniards' midfield tt turns the tide around)

well...
i'm not a fan of spain...
i'm a hardcore england supporter, softcore (sounds wrong huh hahaha) italy supporter...

BUT!!!

Both teams were out so early :(
England didn't even managed to smell the group stages of the best 32...
:(

on the lighter note...
got to noe tt 12th of july is ASD's ConneXion!!!
yeah!!!
its play time for the ASD!
this ConneXion will serve as a graduation ceremony for the graduates to next phrase of student's training...
Comrades like Melvis, Jun Jie, Shuli and company will be graduating at this ConneXion...
will be sending off teck qiang, thai leong, eunice and other ICs going off as well...
get to meet graduated comrades (maybe)...
pple like sikang, wei de, stella...
(are they coming back for ConneXion? they better do... lol)

this ConneXion will be fun...
i will make it happen!
even if it has to plan everything in Hendon camp...
i will do it!
this is a promise...
:)

anyway gtg
tml will be a new day...

i wanted to write something...
for the sake of writing or watsoever...
but then...
dunno wat to write oso...

one of the few things tt happened to me this week...
is...

I GOT MY SILVER WING!!!!!!!!

yes...
this silver wing...
it is the prize of jumping thrice from static line parachute from 1000 feet...
the red colour thing behind the wing is only for commandos...
external units tt went to jump will not be able to have the red thing...
so...
theoretically, i'm a paratrooper :)
however...
i missed one of the mod 2 training (jumping with 20kg combat equipment)
hence i was taken out of mod 2 jump...

my third jump wasn't as good as my first 2...
different aircraft, different speed...
has caused me to have a negative punch out of the aircraft...
resulted me to spin like a drill bit,
which, as a result, caused my specs to fly off from 1000 feet...
as for myself, becos of my spin...
the parachute spins as well...
causing it to have a bad twist...
a bad twist prevents the parachute from opening fully, hence can be quite dangerous for landing...
but thanks to all the "shoten zenjin" , i'm still walking now...

as for why i was taken out of mod 2 training is becos...
i didn't passed my IPPT (something like sec sch's nafa test)
hence BTW wanted to let me out of course becos all dun think i (or rather the total of 6 of us) cannot pass the test, after we didn't do physical training for so long...

but hey...
all of us pass it well...
so BTW bo bian...
let us go back to jump...
in the middle involves lots of politics la...
but these politics are belongs to the officers...
doesn't concern me hahaha

anyway...

i was looking through leong's blog...
finally...
he has write one entry liao
after half a year...
but watever he wrote doesn't make sense to me...
but good to noe tt he writes...
hahaha

come to thik about it...
many of us thinks tt our lives are boring, meaningless, so monday etc...
well...
our lives is just like an artist with a paint brush...
how u want ur life to be painted depends on urself...
if u want ur life to be as colourful as possible...
then paint it!
it is all the challenges tt we meet each day tt makes our life colourful...
when u're defeated by the obstacle...
ur life will just be painted with the colour u hate the most...
(for me, my life will be pink in colour, when i'm defeated, becos i HATE pink colour)
life will only be in black n white when ur lives have reached a stalemate...
if u think u have too much $$$ to spend, n ur life is so meaningless...
then...
spend $$$ n learn scuba diving...
go try out life in another world...
the aquatic world :)

anyway...
i've made a few new resolution...

1.) Get a driving license... (i'm loosing my trust n patience on public transport, grrrrh...)
2.) learn japanese... (i want to go japan)
3.) get a shatterproof specs

i'll be clearing leave...
only booking in on tuesday night...
more time to write stuff...
so i shall stop here...

until then :)

this article is written by SGI President Ikeda
extracted from the book called "The Way Of Youth"

:)

here goes...
Question : Sometimes i feel so hopeless and pessimistic. What can i do to increase my self-confidence?

Sensei says :

First, pls understand, life is long! The way things are now will not last forever. even if u have problems, even if u have made mistakes or have done things regret, your whole future still lies ahead of u. dun worry endlessly over every obstacles or problem. above all, do not despair or be defeated by you impatience.
Nothing is hopeless. the worst mistake u can make when young is to give up on a dream, to not challenge yourself for fear of failure. the past is past and the future is the future. keep moving forward with a steady eye on what is ahead, telling yourself : " I'll start from today!" "I'll start fresh from this moment!" this spirit, staring from the present moment, is the heart of Buddhist philosophy........

and there are a few more parts of the answer to the question. Unfortunately... the writer of this blog (yes its me) is too lazy to type everything down, becos he's typing too slowly... (still using the pray mantis way to type computer :X)

hope u guys enjoy this...

until then...

share a piece of good news for u guys :)

tk's still walking on his 2 legs till today!

becos on friday tk had his first and second live parachute descent from chinook helicopter at approx 1000 ft !!!

tts a shiok experience of a lifetime!
by right, i should be able to get my silver wings by friday, becos criteria of getting a silver wing is to jump 3 times...

but apparently...
i only managed to jump 2 times...
becos my 1st jump was cancelled due to limited time...
but nevertheless...

tk's a paratrooper!
:)

details of my 2 jumps?
ask me...
i'm too lazy to type here...

till then :)

tk's quote of the day : " The important thing is to take that first step. Bravely overcoming one small fear gives you the courage to take on the next. "

tk's MV of the day : " I'll do anything "
(though its a very old song, its one of my favourite :) )

the lyrics...

Another day is going by
I'm thinking about you all the time
But you're out there
And I'm here waiting

And I wrote this letter in my head
Cuz so many things were left unsaid
But now you're gone
And I can't think straight

This could be the one last chance
To make you understand

(Chorus)
I'd do anything
Just to hold you in my arms
To try to make you laugh
Cuz somehow I can't put you in the past
I'd do anything
Just to fall asleep with you
Will you remember me?
Cuz I know
I won't forget you

Together we broke all the rules
Dreaming of dropping out of school
And leave this place
And never come back

So now maybe after all these years
If you miss me have no fear
I'll be here
I'll be waiting

This could be the one last chance to make you understand
And I just can't let you leave me once again

(Chorus)

I close my eyes
And all I see is you
I close my eyes
I try to sleep
I can't forget you
Nanana (....)
And I'd do anything for you
Nanana (....)

(Chorus)

I'd do anything
To fall asleep with you
I'd do anything
There's nothing I won't do
I'd do anything
To fall asleep with you
I'd do anything
Cuz I know
I won't forget you

this blog entry is dedicated to all ASDians :D

today is SD's nationwide meeting...
which marks the commemoration of the formation of Student Division 51 years ago on the 30/06 by Soka Gakkai's second president Toda Sensei...
at tt event (51 years ago) while Soka Gakkai was still labeled as the organisation "for the sick and the poor" coal mine trade union made used of their authority to retrench Soka Gakkai members who worked as mine workers then...
as soka gakkai members were mainly the poor, very few of the gakkai members were not holding positions big enough to protect the members...
hence members at tt time were like "meat placed on the chopping board, ready to be sliced anyway the butcher wants it"

the objective of Sensei is to cultivate intellects to become leaders of the society...
so he told the crowd of 500 youth tt time tt half of them to be managing directors of companies and the other half (250 la) to hold doctorates, so as to voice out, or even challenge any unjust ruling, to help the needy...

enough of history, lets talk about abit of "facts" which i have observed...
while we were receiving education, it is our parents tt work their guts out in order to send us to school...
quite a number of pple around me are parents who did not receive good education in their youth, now they are really working hard to send the future generations to study...

so...

intellects like us should remember during our schooling days (or education days) it is the not so intellect pple tt supports U to school, so pls................. pay back to society when u hold important positions in society, by looking after these not so intellects (usually are the poor) whom didn't get a chance to study more...

tt is why Student Division has a Motto...

"Young Eagles, be true leaders of the people"

well...
switch scenes to today's event at HQ...
today marks the new beginning of the student division, and me as well...
i was appointed as a Campus In Charge (CIC) today...
a role which is not much of a difference to me when i was Student In Charge (SIC)
becos...
teck kiang somehow or rather have made all SICs in ASD share burden with the CICs,
so for me its just a change of name only, mission will still remain as the same, perhaps even more responsibilities later...

speaking of teck kiang...
he has finally graduated...
not tt i dun like him...
its just tt its been years since his batch of ICs have graduated...

i will say tt it is him, together with jih yang and jia yang tt really create an indestructible foundation for today's ASD...

i can still re-call the days when 3 of them were still ASD's IICs (Institution In Charge)
3 of them were the generators of ASD's growth, backbones and spines to the institution's establishment...
3 of them formed a wonderful tag team to the institution...

Jih Yang, the usually soft spoken one...
will usually be the one in charge of searching guidance, sharing study materials, giving encouragements to us etc during our institution meetings...

Jia Yang, will usually be the one doing all the institution's "SK" (sai kang)
which is the admin work...
like calling up members to attend meetings,
updating the members' particulars,
booking rooms for meetings and discussions,
and the person who runs the show (institution meeting i mean)

Teck Kiang, will usually be the one doing all the home-visits...
i dun get to see him as often as jih yang and jia yang during meetings,
but i noe he's always out there encouraging members...
among these 3 wonderful ICs, i feared him the most...
(becos he's too "Garang" liao)

anyway...
today is the day of the graduation of comrades...
who used to fight against own fundamental darkness along side by side with me,
who used to crack their brains out in order to think of the best way to encourage the rest,
who used to sweat it out when they go "Hollann" (which means lost) with me during home visits...

its kinda emotional to see pple so close to me advance...
while me standing behind and watch them go...
(without advancing...)

wee yong and me still love those good old days, with the rest of the 1988 batch of ASDians
ASD Connexion must be a yes for july (usually its June)
to send off these graduates and to welcome the year 1s...

as for me...
Mission will carry on...
counting down to 2010...
the year which i will take off...
to Kosenrufu frontline as a better fighter!

i resolved to bring institution meetings to those who are unable to attend due to various reasons!!!
(if u come can't go to the mountain, let me bring the mountain to u!)
this is not a threat...
this is a promise :D
u're damn right i'm determined to do so...

:D

tk's quote of the day : " Poverty is nothing to be ashamed of. What's disgraceful is to have an impoverished heart or to live dishonestly. Being born in a stately mansion is no guarantee of happiness, any more than being born in a shack dooms one to misery. "

as tk began his next phrase of training course (Airborne course), over at Hendon...

no doubt he began to compare Hendon and PRC (Pasir Ris Camp)...

firstly...
as Hendon camp got no malays...
there is no need to cater muslim food,
hence the meals over at Hendon contains PORK!
other than breakfast, the rest of the meals will contain PORK indiscriminately :)
oh yes... even night snack contains PORK (Char Siew Pau)
the quality of food over there is...
bagus! (great in Malay, if i spelled correctly)

but the cookhouse is miles away from the barracks...
hence just by marching over to the cookhouse will be tiring...

secondly...
the camp is 10 times bigger than PRC, i'm only accessible to a little part of the camp...
and its more ulu than PRC, even though bus no. 29 can reach there...

thirdly...
trainers over there are very good...
their training stops at 5pm :)
after tt will be OTOT :)
by right i can have nights out every single night for the month of june...
but becos i was caught booking in late (by 26 mins) on the first night...
this privilege is being taken away :S
i book in late becos i went to have a HV with Jih Yang over at tiong bahru...

BUT...
nevertheless...
tk will continue to fight!

anyway today went out to relax with kiat n leong...
leong's so high today...
cos Rubin bought him a wallet...
as for kiat...
HE"S GOING OCS!!!
so lucky hor...
(but somebody's been pestering him, and leong and me aren't very happy about it)
(btw happy belated birthday to kiat! he's 20 on the 6th of june)

for me?

well...

Airborne all the way le lor :S
(to tell ya the truth, i'm kinda scare when need to jump from 1000 ft)

watever le la hor...
need to book in liao...

till then...

remember i was from aKe?

well...

i finally understand wats the meaning of “前人种树,后人乘凉”

the current batch of pple got a chance to have its very own concert in school,
the current batch of pple have got a chance to go to "Brisbane" (according to Wikipedia, its a place somewhere in Queensland, Australia)

these 2 things used to be my dream, which i hoped i can accomplished, during my 4 years stay in MI.

the idea tt came to me about the own concert came from MCS...
when they won some drama competition (or whatsoever) they put up a ticket sales performance in school...

when our aKe had emerged victorious in SYF 2005, i thought, perhaps we can have a ticket sales performace as well...

it never happened...........................

when aKe had a performance at Lau Pa Sat...
one hong kong tourist came over and saw our "weird" instruments, and told me tt perhaps one day, our ensemble can go over to hong kong for some exchange programme (or something like tt, becos i couldn't understand his accented english) and passed me his namecard...
i passed the namecard to the teacher ic, hoping tt maybe one day aKe get to go overseas for a student exchange (of music), just like how NJC's chinese orchestra did years ago....

well...

it did happened...

but i'm no longer around...

as for why i put the statement “前人种树,后人乘凉” its becos the current aKe pple consist of 3 years...

only the year 3s were "operational" (got into competition and win before) the other 2 levels were simply "untested" or inexperienced in the "champion type of training" we received years ago...

no doubt they have various performance and had some performance experience, majority of them are still competition shy...

it will only be until next year (my ORD year :) ) tt they may have a chance to have a taste of "standard" performance...

(btw... i'm not jealous over watever happened to aKe now, really) in fact, i feel honoured to be one of them to pave the red carpet way for them :)

anyway, aKe finally has gotta an Alumni set up...
however, need to pay $$$ of $60 per annum (i think) - . -|||
joining the CCA in the first place is becos i dun wanna pay for anything...
but if i wanna continue to meet up with all of them regularly to continue playing music...
need to pay money liao :(

well... i shall quit grumbling over aKe liao...

tk has embark on next course in NS...

AIRBORNE!
(all the way)

Finally i get to blog again...

its been a long trip...

landed on 高雄 international airport on the 13/05 at around 6am (if i remember correctly)
there is no time difference between taiwan and singapore...
but their 6am day looks like our 8am day

the first impression i have for taiwan starts at the airport...

"boy the airport smells like shit"

dunno wat causes tt shity smell at the airport but it definitely doesn't smell nice...

gotten a 2 hours bus ride to 恒春, where the camp is...
got to see the wonderful scenery of taiwan's southern part :)
didn't get any photos taken here as i'm busying sleeping (ha)

one culture for taiwan will be...
they simply just love 槟榔 (betel nuts) to the max!
the number of 槟榔摊 there is as many as the number of rubbish bins u find here in Singapore...
(and i'm not exaggerating)

though there are lots of 槟榔摊 in heng chun...
there is none 槟榔西施 over there...
heng chun is all full of ah soh (aunties), ah ma (grandma) and kin na (small kids)
very very very little teenagers :X

get to go outfield the second day (14/05)
to do service and support for the leaders course's navigation exercise
its on the one of the many many hills there...
managed to took a few pics on the place there (even though i'm not supposed to :X )

the rest of the days were all just missions after missions for the leaders,
as we are there to be the "enemies" for the leaders...
our mission continues like theirs...

sleeping at 8pm, waking up at 1am to prepare for raiding...
setting up traps and props during the day...
no life at all at tt point of time (吃不饱,睡不好)
details of the missions cannot be describe here as its highly sensitive
(its a military thing)

the thing fun about the outfield will be the ninja van visitng us...
no matter how well we can hide in the vegetation, they are still able to find us :)
food sold on the ninja van is really good...
but the disgusting part will be...
the oil they used looks older than me :X (now tts how unhealthy it is)

and when the R n R days were finally here!

went to 佛光山 in the day...
feel like a shaolin monk over there (lol)
spent the first night at 高雄...
guys like me who doesn't really like shopping went on a mini shopping spree at 高雄's 六合夜市...
guys tt like shopping went stalls by stalls to eat, buy accessories or watever things over there...

tk's guide for good food : at 六合夜市, look out for this fruit juice stall (its a 路边摊)with a cube shaped watermelon at its stall just in front of a 7 eleven...
order their 木瓜牛奶 for NT$50 (around SGD $2.50)
and u'll get to taste the world's best 木瓜牛奶! (i can guarantee tt)

at 六合夜市, i get to try the infamous fermented bean curd (臭豆腐)
the smell of 臭豆腐 is like rotten fish in fish market, or overnight garbage, but the 臭豆腐 is really crispy and all the sauce and gravy tts added to it make it taste really sweet...
the aftermath of eating 臭豆腐 will be...
the smell of "rotten fish in fish market, or overnight garbage" lingers in ur throat for a long time :)

tried their Si ling chicken cutlet...
its very filling (not to mention big)
watever si ling chicken cutlet u find in Singapore are all bullshit...
go taiwan urself and taste the REAL si ling chicken cutlet...

went to have fun at the 剑湖山 and try out the amusement park there... get the balls to try the "G-5" roller coaster ride, where the roller coaster went up, and plunges down near 90 degrees...
i felt tt my heart was being left up there (心痛 leh)

heading towards 台北 the next...
got to buy lots of local stuff along the way...
spend the night shopping at 五分埔 night market...
五分埔 is the place where u find clothes, clothes and more clothes...
pple like me who does speedy window shopping (those 走马看花 type) need 2 hours plus to finish all the stores over there...
imagine if u drop a shopoholic there...
i can assure u...
she'll need a week to finish walking through... :)

went to taipei's 忠烈祠 to view the change of guards from the taiwan's military.
忠烈祠 (Martyrs Shrine) is the place where they honour all the war heros who sacrifice their lives to win the war...
the change of guard is very good...

(this is not the one i've seen, but its somewhat similar)

headed to 故宫 next...
if the palace museum's treasure in beijing is rated A,
then 故宫's treasure will be rated as A***
故宫's treasure are all first rate treasures there...
my favourite piece of antique will be the 玉翠白菜 of from the qing dynasty ...

as taking pictures are not allowed in 故宫, i took this from the web :)

this 玉翠白菜 look really real...
its like taking the real 白菜 and plastic it...
tts how beautiful this piece of artwork is...

one of my friend asked for a gift tt symbolises taiwan... i wanted to give her 玉翠白菜, but as u all noe, this is national treasure... if i attempt to take the 玉翠白菜 out, i will not be able to reach singapore alive... lol (got her a replica anyway)

at afternoon...
went to 九份老街 for another round of shopping...
at this time, i'm out of cash already...
(yup, 3rd day of R n R and i'm broke already)
borrowed NT$2000 (around SGD $100) to continue to spend, lol...

last day of taiwan (yesterday)
went to taipei's 西门町 for a walk...
西门町 is taiwan's Orchard Road, Bugis village style...
(only its 10 times larger)
as its saturday afternoon, there are lots of pretty girls around :)
the quality of the beauty is nothing i've ever seen back home...
tired out the famous 阿忠mee sua over there as lunch...
its...
good i will say, try it out...

after tt...
i went to Soka Taiwan HQ for a visit...
as there are meetings going on, can't really went in...
went to the sales department instead, which is located at the separate building 2 blocks away...
had a chat with the WD at the sales counter there...
discover tt they are building a new HQ in taipei located opposite of 故宫!
(i remembered there a very big construction site opposite 故宫, so tt construction site is our
building... lol)

after this...
nothing interesting happened after this, touched down at Changi Airport this morning at 0030 hr...

with this i conclude my report on my taiwan trip...
i took some pictures from my phone... poor quality though...
will attempt to load up here soon...
with tt... adios!
:)
