hi everyone...
its been a long time since i lasted blogged...
becos...
i kana alot of extra guard duties...
for the past 2 weekends, i haven been serving guard duties in camp...
hence my weekend is very very very short...

many things have happened over the week...
we had demolition live firing on monday...
it was really fun :)
the unfortunate thing is...
we didn't get a chance to blow things up...
as there were too many restrictions over at the "bomb side"
no blowing of logs...
no blowing of metals...
no blowing of doors...
no blowing of trees...
no using of explosives more than 5kg for a single blow...
etc...
etc..
etc...
(i understand tt there's a ammo depot nearby)
my CSM (Company Sergeant Major) is so fed up with all these restrictions tt he mocked by saying tt... we should all use firecrackers instead...
becos firecrackers can only hear the sound ma...
no need to scare debris will fly...

hahaha...

actually...
we (trainers, officers and Men) were all quite unhappy with the system...
to me...
the army is being split into 3...
its...

3G army...
2G equipment...
1G technical support...

e.g for 2G equipment...
our load bearing vest (LBV) which replaced the SBO (which i'm not sure wat it stands for)...
the nylon material tt its used cannot disperse heat from our body...
causing all the Men and specialists to experince heat rash and other heat related injuries to the body...
the nylon material melts when burns...
supposedly Singapore troops are going for real operation this instance...
when troops' nylon made LBV came in contact with fire...
the whole thing will stick with us, the troops...
becos the LBV will melt...

if tts the case...
where to we store our rounds?
wat operations/ let alone mission can we complete?

the Night vision goggles tt the troops uses to conduct delibrate raid at night...
is...
3rd generation...
current world class special forces' troops uses...
the 8th?
or even the 10th generation night vision goggles...
lighter?
smaller?
greater mobility?
longer self life?

wat 3G?

transport/support sectorshave failed (i will say)
our tekong field camp recently had a flop in the transport sector...
not enough tonners (the SAF lorry) to ferry troops to the training area...
wat was being given?
civilian chartered bus (Vivo city bus, Jurong bird park bus, Mandai Zoo bus) are used...
i feel more like a tourist to Tekong than a training soldier...
thursday's live firing was a screw up... (the lessons were ok)
it is the transport arragement tt causes us the delay...
the buses cannot arrive the camp at earlier time, to beat the morning traffic...
tt means our movement was delayed due to the late buses (by an hour to be exact)
the morning traffic in the SLE and TPE further delayed troops movement by another 15 mins...

speaking of a HIGHLY DISCIPLINE military organisation, being late for more than an hour for live firing...
due to the late coming of chartered buses...
unavailability of tonners...

wat 3G?

and this is happening to the Best Combat Unit for 22 times?

wat about the other units?

i'll leave u guys to think about it...

gonna go :)

i was looking at celebrity dawn yang's blog entry about her Singapore patriotism thingy...

so i decided to write about my own version of national day and my patriot thing...

to me...
Singapore is actually quite a nice piece of red dot to live in (yes... seriously)
quite a fortunate place...
Strategic location,
no natural disaster, (SARS is not a natural disaster right?) although its abit too hot and humid at times
multi religion, multi racial bla bla bla...
huge amount of monetary reserves in Bank Xs, Ys, and Zs tt every country can only dream about having it...
good defence force,
"wonderful" education system,
lease corrupt government,
etc etc etc...

wat makes me proud to be a Singaporean?
basically...
its the kiasu culture,
the Singlish language,
the complain this complain tt attitude...

these are some of the unique characteristics of Singaporeans, although it may seem annoying to foreigners (i sometimes find it annoying too... ha! contradicting myself here)

lets just say tt like it or not...
this is Singapore...
this is the way we were brought up...
this is the way we've survived for 43 years...
if u tell me a turtle hides in its shell when in face of danger is hum ji (no balls/ timid) ...
i agree...
BUT...
this is the way turtles survive, some to 500 years...

hence...

if singapore survive for 43 years becos of kiasuness and complainess...
i'll live with it...
and be proud of it...
so if ang mohs out there find it disgusted...
well...

TOO BAD!!!

u guys just have to live with it :)

on the other hand...
i dun really like singapore...
in terms of the governance...
lets talk about more close to my heart things first...
(national services)

pay government back with 2 years of my youth...
in return...
being treated like dogs... (less the collar, kennel, pedigree, and sterlisation, or watever u all call tt... ouch)
weekend burnt like forest fire...
going out field like heading towards town...
Carry On Many Missions And No Day Off, commando lifestyle...
giving ur life to Grimreaper (to see if he takes it) just becos u get extra $300 combat allowance...
etc etc etc...

now something tt is close to everyone else hearts...
ERP...

supposed to ease off traffic during peak hours...
to minimise economical cost, for those doing business la...
to civilians...
its to minimise the dead weight lost...
however...
DEAD WEIGHT LOST is a welfare lost to nobody, nothing, it just disappears...
how can government benefit from these dead weight lost, by earning all the $$$ taken away by the gantries?
(i'm poor in expressing my thoughts... wondering if u guys understand wat am i saying)
so... the people here have to accept... suck thumb lor...

Taxi drivers are great analyst...
if govt gives out incentives...
they analyse it as...
election's coming...
but after tt...
they take back everything from u again... (lol)
they give u a drumstick, so tt one day they will take back the whole chicken...
hahaha...

but nevertheless, i just love singapore :)

*** Add On***
didn't really watch NDP today as i'm down with HV with wee yong and chang jye...
but saw it in the news tt our Flagbearers did a wonderful job :D
haha... liang yue was interviewed by the reporters...
(i think i saw qing de and sikang during the performance too)

WELL DONE FLAG BEARERS!!!
Sensei will be proud to know this!
the youth in singapore is ready!
ready to take over ur noble mission :)

got a new phone, Nokia E51 before today's HV...
its a great phone...
cos got no camera, can bring it into camp... lol

***End of add on***

till then...
at the mean time...
take care people :)

today is not a day to whine about NS :)
(simply becos i'll do it tml ;p )

today i'll like to share with u guys about one email kerui sent to me...
its kinda funny :)
its about an award called "Stella Award"

The 'Stella Awards' are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued McDonald's (in New Mexico).
That case inspired the Stella Awards for the most frivolous and ridiculous, yet successful, lawsuits in the United States.

lets see the top 7 stories of this funny awards...

7th Place
Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas, was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle when she tripped over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The owners of the store were understandably surprised at the verdict, considering that the misbehaving little toddler was Ms. Robertson's son.

pretty lame huh... more to come ;)

6th Place
Nineteen-year-old Carl Truman of Los Angeles won $74,000and medical expenses when his neighbour ran over his hand with a Honda Accord.
Mr. Truman apparently didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was trying to steal his neighbour 's hubcaps.

i dun get this one... but who cares! (ha!)

5th Place
Terrence Dickson of Bristol, Pennsylvania, was leaving a house he had just finished robbing by way of the garage.
He was not able to get the garage door to go up since the automatic door opener was malfunctioning.
He couldn't re-enter the house because the door connecting the house and garage locked when he pulled it shut. The family was on vacation, so Mr. Dickson found himself locked in the garage for eight days.
He subsisted on a case of Pepsi he found, and a large bag of dry dog food. He sued the home owners' insurance company, claiming the situation caused him undue mental anguish. The jury agreed to the tune of $500,000.

Now tt's outrageous...

4th Place
Jerry Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas, was awarded$14,500 and medical expenses after being bitten on the buttocks by his next-door neighbour's beagle.
The beagle was on a chain in its owners' fenced yard. The award was less than originally sought, because the jury felt that the dog might have been just a little provoked at the time by Mr. Williams who had climbed over the fence into the yard and was shooting it repeatedly with a
pellet gun.

He still wins the case? in my opinion... he should have his fatherhood bitten off... (for animal abuse)

3rd Place
A Philadelphia restaurant was ordered to pay Amber Carson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, $113,500 after she slipped on a soft drink and broke her coccyx (tail bone).
The beverage was on the floor because Ms. Carson had thrown it at her
boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument.

She dun deserve the $$$... but she deserve the injury... (what goes around comes around) ha!

2nd Place
Kara Walton of Claymont, Delaware, successfully sued the owner of a night club in a neighbouring city when she fell from the bathroom window to the floor and knocked out her two front teeth This occurred while Ms. Walton was trying to sneak through the window in the ladies' room to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge. She was awarded $12,000 and dental expenses.

WTF?!?!?!?!

1st Place (drum roll, please)
The winner was Mrs. Merv Grazinski of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Grazinski purchased a brand-new, 32-foot-long Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home from an OU football game -- having driven onto the freeway -- she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go into the back to make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the RV left the freeway, crashed and overturned.
Mrs.Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising her in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually do that. The jury awarded her $1,750,000 plus a new motor home. The company actually changed its manuals on the basis that there may actually be more morons like her around!

no wonder some people told us be wary of female drivers... lol... no offence to our female drivers here :)

next up will be an article i read on the "last page" of 8- days

here goes...

Signs your Boyfriend is TOO into BATMAN

1.) At the car showroom, he always ask if the cars can also turn into motorcycles.
2.) He's seeing a plastic surgeon about getting his ears sharpened.
3.) When he answers the phone, his voice gets all low and growly.
4.) He wants u to wear a leather suit and meows alot...
5.) He's always complaining about some joker making his life difficult.
6.) He's begun hanging around with a young boy with shorts and referring to him as "Robin"
7.) (the last one is too lame to be put up here)

Have a nice weekend ahead peepz!
